Joy Youwakim

Joy Youwakim is a research scientist focused on the intersection of natural and social sciences. She obtained a bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a masters of science in Sustainable Agriculture with a focus on soil contamination and remediation from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. She works as a product agronomy scientist at Biome Makers, a soil biology company focused on functional genomics. She has worked on several research projects, from observing the drought resistant properties of sorghum to the feasibility of growing produce atop closed landfills. These days, Joy is focused on soil microbiology and is interested in the correlations we can make to nutritional content in produce and with that, conclusions we can draw about public health.
